Szymanski was a center on three conference championship football teams (1942, 1946, 1947) for Milwaukee State Teachers College. He co-captained the team in 1947 and received all-conference honors in 1942 and 1947. He was a Special Education Supervisor with the Wisconsin Department of Health and Social Services from 1966-82.
