MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee women's track and field team hosted the annual John Tierney Classic on Saturday inside the Klotsche Center, hosting a pair of local opponents in a non-scoring event.

"Overall, today was a Great Tierney Classic recognizing our seniors in front of a lot of alumni and families," commented head coach Andrew Basler. "I thought the teams competed well and we took positive steps forward. From a performance standpoint, we had a lot of individuals shine. I thought our women's and men's hurdlers certainly flexed our depth in those events."

Dominique Thomas set a new Tierney Classic record in the 200-meter dash to highlight the afternoon hosted by the Panthers at the Klotsche Center. Thomas scored a time of 25.33 in the 200-meter dash, eclipsing the previous record set at last year's event at 25.50.
In the 200, Thomas paced the field of 11 but took the event with over a second of clearance, as
Kalea Weyenberg (26.59) and
Kortnie Volk (26.76) registered top-three finishes.
Enné Burton (26.87),
Brooke Crosby (27.23),
Isabel Roloff (27.37),
Cloey Fare (27.47), and
Jada Schuh (28.14) were all within the top-10.

Thomas also led the field in the 60-meter dash with equal times of 7.59 in both the prelims as well as the finals. Roloff was second for the Panthers with a 7.81 in the prelims and a 7.82 in the finals, while Weyenberg also posted a top-three finish at 8.14.

Katie Burns won with a time of 1:00.63 in the 400-meter dash in her first home collegiate event, while
Aiyana Knight (1:01.84) and
Courtney Hoppe (1:02.06) led the field of eight.

Milwaukee continued its dominance on the track with
Anelise Egge in the 800-meter run as she crossed the line with a 2:19.68.
Aubrey Anderson (2:20.31),
Cailin Kinas (2:20.41),
Ally Schmitz (2:20.49), and
Rachel Helm (2:20.95) took the top-five for the Panthers.

Alayna Franson took second in the mile tun with a 5:17.07, with
Faith Nead finishing fourth at 5:18.92.
Eileen Tocco paced the 3000-meter run with a 10:26.68, with just under four seconds of clearance ahead of
Brittany Helm at 10:30.52.
Emily Burns (10:31.06),
Madison Hughes (10:32.21), and
Anna Gallagher (10:40.24) made it another top-five sweep for Milwaukee.

The Panthers dominated in the hurdles as they secured all eight spots to advance to the finals,
Natalie Block won the event with an 8.50, followed by Burton (8.77), Fare (8.79),
Morgan Pilate (8.88), Crosby (8.92),
Aubrie Gorski (9.09), Schuh (9.43), and
Katie Sciarini (9.45).

Earlier in the day, the field events saw
Annie Guerrero clear 1.67 meters in the high jump, while
Olivia VanZeeland was second along with
Nadia Vo at 1.62 meters. Macy Woodland cleared 1.57 with Schuh and Volk each passing 1.42 meters.

With two entries in the field in the pole vault
Ella Laughbaum led as she notched a 3.45-meter vault, while Roloff was second at 3.30 meters.

Block took the top spot in the long jump at 5.83 meters, with Vo second at 5.75 meters and Pilate third at 5.53 meters.
Maddy Troy also hit a mark of 5.30 to round out the top four for Milwaukee. Pilate at 12.23 in the triple jump led the way for the field of five, while
Adaline Powell was second at 11.79, and
Olivia Busch third at 11.07 meters.

In throws, Milwaukee also took the top-three in the shot put as
Tabitha Wechlo led with a 14.05-meter toss, followed by
Samantha Satterfield at 13.09 meters and
Lauren Lietzke at 12.80 meters. Volk and Block also recorded distances of 11.01 and 10.50, respectively, to finish eighth and ninth, while Schuh also tossed a 9.23.

Cynthia Hernandez led in the weight throw amongst collegiate throwers with a distance of 15.93 meters, with Lietzke close behind with a 15.69-meter throw. Wechlo (14.32) also notched a top-five finish with a throw of 14.32 meters.

Milwaukee will be back on the road on Friday and Saturday, when the team takes part I the Jack Johnson Classic, hosted by the University of Minnesota.
