The 2025 Horizon League Indoor & Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year put together a standout debut season for the Panthers, making his collegiate debut in the John Tierney Classic during the indoor season at the Klotsche Center. He recorded a jump of 7.01m at the event and continued to excel in the event as the season progressed.
Â
At the Horizon League Indoor Championships in early March, Buford reached 7.20m and took second in his first conference championship appearance.
Â
As the season shifted outdoors, Buford posted a leap of 7.51m at the Ashton May Invitational, hosted by UW-La Crosse. Although wind-aided, the season-best mark set the stage for a championship-caliber performance at the Horizon League Outdoor Championship in May, where he claimed the top spot on the podium with a jump of 7.39m.
Â
Buford also competed in the 200m and 400m dashes as well as the 4x400m relay this season. His season-best in the 200m was a 22.44, set at the Badger Challenge in early May, while his top 400m performance came at the outdoor championships, where he finished second with a time of 49.19.
