MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee track & field program landed 11 athletes on the 2026 Valeo Outdoor Track & Field All-Academic teams, announced by the Horizon League Wednesday afternoon.
For the women,
Isabel Roloff,
Anna Szepieniec,
Olivia VanZeeland, and
Kallie Volk earned the honor, while
Katie Burns was named as an honorable mention recipient.
Receiving the award on the men's side was
Karsten Grundahl,
Zac Schmidt, and
Sam Schreiber, with
Anthony Buford,
Josh Cygan, and
Tim Maidment earning honorable mention recognition.
Roloff, a senior accounting major maintaining a 4.00 GPA, receives the nod after a solid season competing primarily in the 100-meter dash and pole vault. She ran a personal-best 100-meter time of 12.08 at Louisville's Jim Freeman/Clark Wood Open, a mark that ranks ninth in program history. Her top pole vault effort also came at the meet in Louisville, Ky., where she cleared 3.67 meters to secure third place. Roloff also earned 2026 indoor track & field all-academic honors this season.
Holding a 3.77 GPA while studying kinesiology is Szepieniec, who had a monster junior campaign. The Alfreeda Goff Horizon League Outdoor Women's Track & Field Athlete of the year is one of two Milwaukee athletes to qualify for the NCAA West Preliminary Round hosted by Arkansas (competing in the long jump). At the Jim Freeman/Clark Wood Open hosted by Louisville, she crushed the school record in the long jump, turning in a 6.35-meter leap. At the Horizon League Championships, Szepieniec won the triple jump and took home runner-up honors in the long jump, 100-meter hurdles, and heptathlon.
VanZeeland receives the honor repping a 3.92 GPA as a kinesiology major. She won the high jump four times during her senior outdoor campaign, jumping a season-best 1.74 meters at the Duke Invitational. She is now a two-time indoor and outdoor all-academic honoree.
Sustaining an impressive 4.00 GPA is Volk, a kinesiology major who took home Women's Championship Outstanding Performer/Field just a few weeks ago at the conference championship meet. The junior turned in personal-best efforts in five different events this season, coming in the 100-meter hurdles, 200-meter dash, long jump, triple jump, and javelin.
Burns rounds out the group of Milwaukee women to receive the honor, holding a 3.52 GPA as a Biology major. The sprinter from Chicago, Ill., was a key member of the Horizon League Championship runner-up squad, earning points in the 200-meter dash, 400-meter run, and as a member of both 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams.
For the Panther men, Grundahl takes the nod while maintaining a 4.00 GPA studying finance. He recorded a personal-best outing in the 800-meter at Louisville's Jim Freeman/Clark Wood Open, clocking a time of 1:52.11 to finish fourth. He was also part of the Horizon League Championship winning 4x400 relay squad.
Schmidt, a psychology major with a 3.73 GPA, receives the honor after a memorable season. The junior set personal-bests in the 200-meter dash and 400-meter run, with his 400-meter time of 47.16 sitting sixth in program history for the event. At the Horizon League Championships, he finished second in the 400-meter and was part of the winning 4x400 relay team.
Sustaining a 3.72 GPA as a finance major is Schreiber, who dominated in the 3000-meter steeplechase this outdoor season. At the Duke Invitational, he ran the third-fastest time in program history for the event, clocking a time of 9:04.14 to finish sixth. He finished third in the event at the Horizon League Championships.
Receiving an honorable mention nod was Buford, a psychology major with a 3.50 GPA. He recorded personal-bests in the 200-meter dash and 400-meter run this season, clocking the eighth-fastest 400-meter run outing in program history at the Jim Freeman/Clark Wood Open. He contributed key points for the team at the championship meet, recording a runner-up finish in the long jump, a fifth-place effort in the 400-meter run, and was part of the winning 4x400 relay team.
Cygan, an electrical engineering major with a 3.42 GPA, earns the honorable mention award after an impressive season. The Men's Championship Outstanding Performer/Field at the championship meet took home the discus title, while adding a runner-up finish in the hammer throw. The sophomore won the discus throw three times this season.
Maidment also earns honorable mention honors while holding a 3.74 GPA as an environmental science major. He recorded a personal-best effort in the long jump at the NCAA Final Qualifier in La Crosse, Wis., jumping 7.03 meters to finish sixth. At the Horizon League Championships, he found himself on the long jump podium after clearing 6.86 meters.
