MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee track & field teams will be competing at two meets this weekend. The Duke Invitational takes place from Thursday to Saturday while the Marquette Invitational will be held on Friday.

The Duke Invitational will begin on Thursday with the first five events of men's decathlon starting at 10:00 a.m. (CT), while the first four events of the women's heptathlon will follow and get underway at 1:15 p.m. (CT). The decathlon will resume Friday morning, and the heptathlon will begin its final events later in the day.

Field events will kick off at 10:00 a.m. (CT) on Friday, followed by action on the track beginning in the afternoon. The Duke Invitational will wrap up on Saturday with the final field events in the morning session while competition on the track is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. (CT). The meet will be held at Duke University's Morris Williams Stadium.

The Marquette Invitational will begin Thursday afternoon with the javelin and hammer throw being held at Raabe Stadium in Wauwautosa, Wis. at 2:00 p.m. The rest of the meet will take place Friday with field events starting things off at 1:00 p.m., and running events beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the Shimek Memorial Track & Field Facilities in Milwaukee.

WOMEN'S LAST TIME OUT

The Panther women were in action at UW-La Crosse's Ashton May Invite this past weekend finishing second out of the nine teams competing.

Katie Burns led the way, winning the 100m dash with a time of 12.15 and taking the top spot in the 200m dash after crossing the finish line in 24.79.

Adding to Milwaukee's deep success in the sprints was
Victoria Evtimov, who placed third in both the 100m dash at 12.19 and the 200m dash at 25.09.

Milwaukee had a pair of podium finishers in the high jump with
Kallie Volk winning the event after she cleared a bar of 1.69m while
Alexandria Simmons hit a mark of 1.64m to take third.

Anna Szepieniec claimed a Panther victory in the long jump with a leap of 5.85m and ran to a runner-up finish in the 100m hurdles, clocking in at 14.24.

Earning a top finish in the triple jump was
Morgan Pilate at 11.86m, the mark currently ranks third in the Horizon League this season.

Hailey Soriaga moved up to the eighth spot on the program's all-time rankings in the pole vault, clearing a height of 3.66m.

MEN'S LAST TIME OUT

The men received a fantastic performance from
Bryant McLaughlin in the high jump. He cleared 2.09m to finish first place at La Crosse and climb to seventh on the school's all-time leaderboard. The height also puts him on top of the Horizon League so far this season.

Divine Aniamaka added a victory for Milwaukee in the triple jump with a distance of 15.58m.

The Panthers picked up another top finish in the pole vault, with
Evan Bartelsen clearing 4.76m to pick up his first win of the outdoor season.

Anthony Buford hit a new career-best mark of 7.51m in the long jump and took second on the day, the distance ranks second in the Horizon League through the first month of the outdoor season.

On the track,
Will Whiteis and
Bryce Tome led the way for the Black & Gold in the 5000m run. Whiteis scored first at 14:54.17 and Tome was close behind with a 14:58.25.

The Panthers will return with a loaded weekend of action, with Indiana State's Gibson Invite running from Apr. 17-19 at Gibson Track & Field Complex in Terre Haute, Ind. Also on Thursday will be Wisconsin Lutheran's Green & White Invite at Raabe Stadium in Wauwautosa, Wis., and UW-La Crosse's Phil Esten Challenge at Veterans Memorial Field in La Crosse, Wis.
