April 05, 2025

LA CROSSE, Wis.- The Milwaukee men's track & field team was in action Saturday for the Ashton May Invite hosted by UW-La Crosse. The Panthers won four events to highlight the day.

Divine Aniamaka reached a wind-assisted distance of 15.58m in the triple jump to take first place in the event.

"The jumps went really well for us today," said head coach Andrew Basler. "We either won or got a great performance in all of those events."

Bryant McLaughlin picked up a victory in the high jump, he cleared 2.09m which moves him up to seventh on the programs all-time leaderboard.

"The height Bryant hit has historically made the first round at nationals so that's a very exciting performance for him." Basler continued.

Evan Bartelsen competed in the pole vault and kept the wins coming, clearing 4.76m to top the field.

In the long jump, Anthony Buford improved on his personal best with a distance of 7.51m to earn a runner-up finish.

On the track, Milwaukee was led by a strong showing in the 5000m run, Will Whiteis crossed the finish line in 14:54.17 to claim victory in the event. Completing the 1-2 punch in the race was Bryce Tome, who finished in second with a time of 14:58.25.

"I was really happy with how Will and Bryce ran today, both breaking 15 minutes and setting impressive personal bests." Basler added.

The team's top performer in the discus was Josh Cygan, who took third place with a toss of 49.57m.

As a team, the Panthers finished fifth out of the eight programs competing with 75 points.
