Track & Field Continues Outdoor Season at Ashton May Invite Saturday

MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee track & field teams are set to continue their outdoor campaigns when they travel to the Ashton May Invite hosted by UW-La Crosse on Saturday.
 
The one-day meet is scheduled to begin with field events at 11:00 a.m., and action on the track starting at 12:30 p.m. The event will be held at Veterans Memorial Sports Complex located on La Crosse's campus.
 
WOMEN'S LAST TIME OUT
 
The team was split last weekend with a portion competing at North Carolina State's Raleigh Relays and another group at Illinois State's Redbird Challenge.
 
Leading the Raleigh group was Anelise Egge, who competed in her first career 5000m run on the track and took down the program record with a time of 16:17.41. The performance gives her the best time in the Horizon League through the early portion of the schedule.
 
Both clearing 1.70m in the high jump, Olivia VanZeeland and Kallie Volk moved into sixth-place all-time on the program's outdoor leaderboard. The height ties the two for the best in the league.
 
Katie Burns also came away with the top 400m dash time in the conference, rounding the track in 56.35.
 
Meanwhile, in Illinois, Cailin Kinas secured a win for the Panthers in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 11:10.35. Sara Jochims was next to cross in the event after clocking in at 11:34.81 for the ninth-best mark in program-history.
 
MEN'S LAST TIME OUT
 
Divine Aniamaka had a fantastic day at the Raleigh Relays in the triple jump with a performance of 15.30m, which ranks third all-time in school history and earned him second in the event featuring a competitive field. Aniamaka was named Horizon League Field Athlete of the Week for posting the best distance in the league thus far on the season.
 
Leading the way on the track for the Panthers was Jaelyn Reeves-Lile, he finished the 100m dash in a career-best 10.53 to give himself the top time in the conference. Moving to the 200m dash, he again notched a career and conference-best time of 21.12 that puts him third in the program's all-time rankings.
 
Anthony Campbell also started his outdoor season strong after taking second in the long jump, his distance of 7.41m tied for the best mark in the league.
 
At the Redbird Challenge, Anthony Buford tied himself with Campbell in the long jump with the winning mark of 7.41m in his first colligate outdoor meet. The leap also shoots Buford up to third on the program's long jump leaderboard.
 
Claiming another victory was Bishop Bufford in the triple jump, the league's indoor champion in the event reached a distance of 13.73m.
 
Milwaukee took second and third in the discus, Josh Cygan led the way with a toss of 50.34m followed by Jack Misky with a 49.27m throw.
 
UP NEXT
 
The Panthers will be split next weekend, with a group travelling to Durham, N.C. for the Duke Invitational running from Apr. 10-12 at Morris Williams Stadium. Another group will be making the trip across Milwaukee for the Marquette Invitational on Apr. 11 at 1:00 p.m at the Shimek Track & Field Facility.
