MILWAUKEE- Three members of Milwaukee's track & field teams were announced as Horizon League Athletes of the Week award winners by the league Tuesday.
Natalie Block,
Iyimi Fagbamiye, and
Liam Richards were the Panthers honored following their performances from this past weekend.
Block brings home women's Runner of the Week after competing in her first race of the year at the Duke Invitational Saturday. She finished the 400m hurdles in 57.84, becoming the first in the Horizon League this season to finish the event in under a minute – a time now ranking 25th in NCAA Division I.
Fagbamiye was recognized as Runner of the Week on the men's side, running in the 110m hurdles at the Marquette Invitational Friday, he placed first in the event with the eighth-best time in school history at 14.32.
Earning men's Field Athlete of the Week was Richards, who racked up 6,959 points in the decathlon at the Duke Invitational to rank himself second on the program's all-time leaderboard. He won his group of the event, collecting victories in six of the events including the 100m dash (10.93), 110m hurdles (14.75), 400m dash (50.30), long jump (6.96m), high jump (1.87m), and discus (35.99m).
Milwaukee will return to the track starting Thursday for the Green & White Invite, hosted by Wisconsin Lutheran at Raabe Stadium in Wauwautosa, Wis. Also on Thursday, will be La Crosse's Phil Esten Challenge at Veterans Memorial Field in La Crosse, Wis.
Starting Thursday and running through Saturday will be the Gibson Invitational hosted by Indiana State in Terre Haute, Ind. at Gibson Track & Field Complex.
