DURHAM, N.C.- The Milwaukee men's track & field team returned to action for the second day of the Marquette and Duke Invitationals.
Liam Richards wrapped up the win in his group of the decathlon at the Duke Invitational to headline the day for the Panthers.

Richards' performance of 6,959 points rockets him up to second on the school's all-time leaderboard in the event.

Entering the day with a solid lead, Richards separated himself even more with top finishes in the 110m hurdles (14.75), and discus (35.99). He closed the day taking fifth in the pole vault (4.00m), fourth in the javelin (45.95m), and third in the 1500m run (4:58.66), to lock up the event.

"Liam did a good job battling through some tough conditions on the second day of the decathlon," said head coach
Andrew Basler. "Some rain and cool temps coming in right as he was vaulting hurt him in eclipsing the 7,000 point mark."

Jaelyn Reeves-Lile placed 12
th in a loaded 67-runner 100m dash field with a time of 10.67.

Anthony Buford competed in the long jump, hitting a distance of 7.03m to slot himself in eighth place.
Â
Saturday will mark the final day of action in Durham, field events will begin at 10:00 a.m. (CT), followed by competition on the track getting underway at 11:00 a.m. (CT).

Milwaukee had an impressive showing at the final day of the Marquette Invitational picking up seven first-place finishes.
Â
Iyimi Fagbamiye posted the eighth-best 110m hurdles time in school history, coming away victorious in the event with a time of 14.32.

"A lot of positive things happened today at the Marquette Invite," Basler said of the meet. "Iyimi had a strong very start to his outdoor season"

The triple jump was dominated by
Divine Aniamaka, who's leap of 15.01m outpaced the rest of the field by over two meters.

In the high jump,
Caden Thomas and
Collin Schulz each cleared 2.00m, with Thomas taking the top spot in the event, and Schulz third, after tiebreakers.

Milwaukee had two more top-three finishes in the long jump, with
Alexander Maggit finishing on top of the field with a distance of 6.45m.
Tim Maidment managed third place with his attempt of 6.32m.

Nate Griepentrog added to the day, coming around first in the 800m run, crossing the finish line in 1:55.69.

Pacing the field in his first career 3000m steeplechase was
Trey Meier, finishing in 1:55.89.
Aidan Sosnowski was next to finish in second at 10:06.56.

Basler finished with. "Trey ran in his first steeplechase and ran very solid."

Leading the way in the throws was
Aiden Janke in the shot put, his throw of 14.76m proving to be enough to claim victory in the event.

Josh Cygan had a strong showing in the discus, using a toss of 48.81m to earn a runner-up finish in the event.
