MILWAUKEE- The Milwaukee track & field teams are set to open their outdoor seasons this weekend, competing at the Raleigh Relays and Redbird Challenge from March 28-29.
 
Hosted by North Carolina State, the Raleigh Relays will be held from Thursday to Saturday, with the Panthers competing the final two days. Action will begin at 8:30 a.m. (CT) each day and the meet will be held at the Paul Derr Track & Field Facility located on NC State's campus.
 
Illinois State's Redbird Challenge will begin Friday, with the men's and women's hammer throw being the lone event held that day at 2:00 p.m. (CT). The rest of the field events will begin Saturday at 10:00 a.m. (CT), and action will start on the track at 12:00 p.m. (CT).
 
MEN'S LAST TIME OUT
 
The last action the Panthers saw was at the Horizon League Indoor Championships, where as a team they finished second, claiming three individual conference titles.
 
The award for Co-Outstanding Field Performer of the Meet went to Bryant McLaughlin, after he won the league high jump title by clearing 2.01m. He added a fourth-place finish in the triple jump as well, reaching a distance of 13.58m.
 
Anthony Buford was honored as the league's Freshmen Field Athlete of the Year at the league championships. Competing in the long jump, Buford took second by reaching 7.20m, which ranks sixth on the school's all-time indoor leaderboard.
 
Jaelyn Reeves-Lile led the way for the men through the indoor season, capping the season as the league champion in the 200m dash, with a winning time of 21.82. He tacked on a runner-up finish in the 60m dash with a 6.78 performance.
 
Earning his second league heptathlon championship in just his sophomore year was Liam Richards with a 5,125-point showing in the event, the fourth-best mark in program history.
 
WOMEN'S LAST TIME OUT
 
In the women's last outing at the Horizon League Indoor Championships, the Panthers took third place, bringing in three individual league titles.
 
Repeating as Outstanding Running Performer of the Meet, Anelise Egge defended her conference championship in the mile run, finishing with an impressive time of 4:51.98. The League's Female Track & Field Athlete of the Year picked up two more runner-up finishes in the 800m and 3000m runs to close the book on her indoor season.
 
Also in search of back-to-back league titles, Dominique Thomas reclaimed her top spot in the 60m dash flying to a time of 7.45. She wasn't done though, coming away with a fourth-place time of 25.09 in the 200m dash.
 
Anna Szepieniec wrapped up the third title for Milwaukee, posting a school and league championship meet record in the pentathlon after racking up 3,864 points.
