Track & Field Set for Weekend Trip to Meyo Invite

MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee track & field teams will continue their indoor season this Friday and Saturday at the Meyo Invite, hosted by Notre Dame.
 
The meet will begin on Friday at 2:00 p.m., with the long jump and shot put starting first and the men's pole vault and high jump also taking place that day. Running events begin at 3:00 p.m. with the qualifiers for the 60m dash and hurdles. Saturday will begin with the 3000m at 9:00 a.m., while field events will kickoff 10:30 a.m. with the triple jump.
 
The final rounds of running events on Saturday will be broadcast live starting at 1:00 p.m. on ACC Network Extra and will be available to view here
 
The event will be held at Loftus Sports Center on the Campus of Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind.
 
MEN'S TEAM LAST TIME OUT
 
At the Tierney Classic hosted by Milwaukee on Jan. 25, the Panthers had seven first-place finishes, including two top-10 all-time performances.
 
In the 60m dash, Jaelyn Reeves-Lile picked up the win with a time of 6.82. Reeves-Lile has been the biggest standout on the track this season for the Panthers, breaking school-records in the 60m dash (6.76), and 300m dash (34.10), as well the third-best 200m dash time in program history of 21.61.
 
Iyimi Fagbamiye also had an impressive showing in the 60m dash, posting the ninth-best time in school history at 6.94.
 
Also bringing in top finishes on the track were EJ Kruse in the 200m (23.01), and Nathan Taylor in the 400m (51.73). In his first action of the indoor track season, Nate Griepentrog took the crown in the mile run with a time of 4:15.96.
 
Throwers Jeremiah Johnson and Aiden Janke each had a win themselves, Johnson took the weight throw (15.66m), while Janke won the shot put (13.66m).
 
In the high jump, Caden Thomas cleared 2.05m to put him 10th on the school's all-time leaderboard, as well as earning him his second Horizon League Field Athlete of the Week award as announced on Tuesday.
 
WOMEN'S TEAM LAST TIME OUT
Milwaukee's women were led by six first-place finishes, and had four athletes write their names into the record books at the Tierney Classic.
 
Anna Szepieniec had a great day recording a win in the triple jump at 11.78m, then recorded a distance of 5.94m in the long jump slotting her third in program history. Szepieniec has shown her versatility this season holding the sixth spot in program history in the 60m hurdles (8.66) and the third-best mark in the pentathlon (3,746 pts).
 
Moving to the 60m dash, Dominique Thomas came away on top of the event putting up a time of 7.60. Katie Burns was second in the event finishing with the 10th-best time in school history at 7.76. Angelica Refinski had a first-place performance on the track in the 200m dash crossing the finish line in 25.99.
 
In distance events Anelise Egge took the top spot in 800m (2:15.51) while Cailin Kinas claimed the mile run (5:04.57).
 
Freshman pole vaulter Hailey Soriaga had a strong performance as well, winning the event and climbing to seventh in the school's record book by clearing 3.45m. Kallie Volk competed in the high jump and cleared 1.70m to put herself into a tie for fourth place all-time.
