COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Milwaukee men's and women's track and field teams picked up where they left off after day one, producing another school record along with many personal bests on the second day of the 44 Farm Invitational hosted by Texas A&M.
Austin Wallace put together a solid day two in the decathlon to finish second overall and post a new school record with 7355 points. It surpasses the previous record set back in 2013 of 6926 points by Dan Simon. Wallace opened with a first-place time of 14.38 seconds in the decathlon 110 hurdles and later posted a personal best throw in the javelin by over five meters at 53.70m.
Tony Bretall also recorded a personal best in the decathlon with 6122 points to place eighth. Bretall crossed the line in the decathlon 110 hurdles in a PR time of 15.88 seconds and followed it up with a throw of 48.06m in the javelin to set another personal best.
In the women's heptathlon,
Natalie Block and
Kortnie Volk each tallied lifetime best scores. Block finished with 4898 points, which ranks third all-time in program history, for fourth overall at the meet. Volk totaled 4288 points to finish 11th.
The women's 100m hurdles trio of
Cloey Fare,
Morgan Pilate, and Enne Burton each finished with personal bests in the event. Fare (14.42 seconds) led the way with a 10th-place finish, while Pilate (14.64) was 11th and Burton (14.88) 14th.
Sam Conger recorded an impressive time in the 110m hurdles, finishing fifth with a PR at 14.05 seconds.
Dane Nelson placed eighth in the same event at 14.64 seconds.
Golden Cotton (10.72 seconds) and
Michael Gorman (10.75) competed in the 100m, finishing 13th and 15th, respectively.
Eileen Tocco placed second in the 3000m steeplechase, racing to a personal best time of 11:20.28. In the men's 3000m steeplechase,
Aidan Sodemann (9:25.08) and
Corey Thornton (9:30.94) were consecutive finishers, placing second and third.
The Panthers throws teams were impressive, posting several personal bests.
Lauren Lietzke (14.60m) tallied a school record and
Tabitha Wechlo (14.07m) recorded a PR in the shot put. The duo placed back-to-back in the event for fifth and sixth. Lietzke also placed ninth in the hammer at 43.91m with Wechlo right behind for tenth at 42.82m.
On the men's side,
Gracien Jules finished seventh overall with a lifetime best in the hammer at 55.13m, setting a new Dominica national record in the process. Jules later set another personal best in the shot put with a throw of 16.91m to finish third.
Morgan Pilate placed sixth in the women's triple jump with a strong result of 11.87m.
Obi Iwuagwu also finished sixth on the men's side at 14.42m. In the women's high jump,
Annie Guerrero finished fourth at 1.66m.
Competing in the pole vault,
Evan Bartelsen tallied a personal best, finishing 11th at 4.62m.
The remainder of the team will compete at the Marquette Invite tomorrow. Events are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at the Wisconsin Lutheran College track.
