MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee men's and women's track and field teams concluded a busy weekend at the Marquette Invite on Sunday, tallying a second-place finish on the women's side while the men finished third.
Host school Marquette claimed victory on both sides at the meet. The Milwaukee women placed just ahead of Parkside with 90 points, and the men scored 109.50 points to finish third behind Parkside.
Brooke Crosby won a pair of hurdles events on the women's side. She tallied a first-place finish in the 400m hurdles at 1:06.96 and added a time of 14.81 seconds to win the 100m hurdles.
Jada Schuh (15.22 seconds) and
Aubrie Gorski (15.54) also placed in the 100m hurdles, finishing third and fourth, respectively.
Schuh also tallied a fourth-place finish in the javelin with a throw of 31.09m. Gorski took home a third-place mark in the long jump at 5.35m.
Matthew Bye had a strong day on the men's side, scoring in three events for Milwaukee. He finished first in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.01 and then finished second in discus with a throw of 36.62m. He capped his afternoon in the high jump at 1.80m to tie for fourth.
The Panthers women's 1500m showcased its depth as four finished in the top six in the event.
Mikayla Fox led the way with a second-place finish at 4:53.03 and
Cailin Kinas was close behind, placing third with a time of 4:54.77.
Brittany Helm was the third consecutive MKE finisher, finishing fourth at 4:57.96 and
Audrey Janik finished sixth at 5:01.80.
In the men's 400m,
Caleb Anderson and
Caleb Henry claimed the top two spots. Anderson finished first at 51.60 seconds while Henry was just a second behind at 52.91 seconds.
Courtney Hoppe finished third in the 400m racing to a time of 1:01.78. In the women's 800m,
Aubrey Anderson (2:24.06) and
Riley Hansen (2:25.35) were back-to-back finishers, placing fourth and fifth.
Will Mortimer recorded a pair of third-place finishes in the long jump (6.61m) and triple jump (13.38m).
The men's 4x400m relay team of
Luke Rapisarda, Henry,
Ben Marano, and
Chandler Ellis finished second at the meet with a time of 3:37.99.
Marano (57.15 seconds) and Ellis (59.01) tallied solid performances in the 400m hurdles as well, finishing second and fourth, respectively.
Anthony Kessler earned a second-place finish in the 100m with a time of 10.89 seconds.
In the javelin,
Brett Clevidence and
Charlie Ellenbecker took home the top two spots. Clevidence won the event with a throw of 48.35m while Ellenbecker was second at 39.98m.
The Panthers will compete in the Warrior Invite on Thursday afternoon hosted by Wisconsin Lutheran College.
