Panthers Make Final Push for Preliminary Rounds

Five individuals head to Whitewater on Sunday

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – With over a week until the NCAA Preliminary Rounds, the Milwaukee track and field team will send a few individuals to compete at the John Kruschoski Open on Saturday looking for a qualifying mark.
 
LAST CHANCE MEET
Five Panthers will head to Whitewater on Saturday, May 15 as they try to climb the NCAA Division I West qualifying list. The top 48 individuals in each event will head to College Station, Texas to compete at the preliminary rounds.
 
Obi Iwuagwu will compete in the triple jump at 12:00 pm while Ashley Melvin and Annie Guerrero participate in the high jump at 1:00 pm.
 
In the running events, which being at 1:00 pm, Sam Conger and Natalie Block will attempt to improve their times in the hurdles.
 
Live results can be found on MKEPanthers.com. Per Whitewater's website, only preapproved spectators will be allowed.
 
PANTHERS ON THE PODIUM
Both the Milwaukee men and women earned a second-place finish at the Horizon League Outdoor Championships last thanks to 26 combined podium finishes and 74 total point scorers.
 
The Panthers earned five titles, three from the women and two on the men's side.   Block was named Women's Freshman of the Year for Running and Women's Championship Outstanding Performer for Running. Nadia Vo collected the Women's freshman of the Year for Fielding honor while Wallace earned the honor on the men's side. Andrew Basler was named Men's Coach of the Year.

WEEKLY WINNERS
Milwaukee picked up five total weekly honors in the outdoor season, bringing its total to 13 this year. REWRITING THE RECORD BOOKS
Throughout the indoor season this year, the Panthers have multiple names added or moved up on the indoor record lists. In 2021, the Milwaukee women have appeared 21 times on the record list while the men have had 17 names.
 
On the outdoor top-10 record list, the men have etched 12 new names while the women appeared 19 times so far this season.
