MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Milwaukee tennis team will host defending Horizon League champions, UIC Flames for a two-match series beginning Saturday, April 10 from River Glen Elite at 1 p.m.
Last Time Out: The Black & Gold swept IUPUI last weekend 5-2, 5-2 to advance to 10-5, 3-3 and slide into third place in the league standings.
Senior
Anna Daniel Fuentes went 2-0 in singles play, and clinched the match for the Panthers on both days. With the wins, Daniel Fuentes improves to team leading, 12-3, 4-2 record.
Junior
Anika Tylek slid into singles line up last weekend and won both matches over Ines Rivera, 6-3, 6-3, and 6-2, 6-2. Tylek is now 4-0 on the season.
Scouting the Flames: UIC currently sits in second place with a 13-5, 5-1 record. The Flames dropped their first conference match last weekend when they split with Youngstown State, 7-0, 3-4.
UIC has five players with double-digit singles wins, and are led by Junior Ana Jover who is 13-3, 5-1 record. Jover has split time between lines 1-3, but has competed mostly from the No.2 line with a 9-2 record.
After Jover, senior Gerogia Gulin comes in at 12-3, 5-1, while Nell Arendt and Agnes Gustafsson and Lucie Prochazkova come in with 31 combined wins.
In doubles, the Flames come in at 28-15 with consistency coming from Tamara Malazonia and Agnes Gustafsson who are 4-2 together, all from the No. 1 doubles line.
Home Sweet Home: The Panthers look to extend their home record to double digits this weekend. The Black & Gold hold an 8-1 record when playing from River Glen Elite.
No Fan Attendance: Just a reminder that there is no fan attendance allowed at River Glen Elite.
Horizon League Standings: After this weekend, the Panthers have just four remaining conference matches; Oakland and Cleveland State. This season, the Horizon League Tournament has been downsized to just four teams. Here are the current standings:
