INDIANAPOLIS, Ind, -- With seven more events on day two of the House of Champions Invitational, the Milwaukee swim & dive teams tallying a new freshman school record along with several other good swims.
Preliminaries in the five swimming events took place early this morning, followed by two diving events, before the top 24 swimmers in each event competed in three flights for the finals.
Three Panthers on the men's side competed in the A finals, including
Jay Jensen, who placed fourth in the 400 IM with a time of 3:59.45. Milwaukee had two in the 200 freestyle A finals, as
Jonathan Kollen (1:42.47) and
Mason Schoof (1:43.00) finished back-to-back at seventh and eighth, respectively.
Allie Buytendorp competed in the A finals in the women's 200 free, placing eighth with a time of 1:53.42.
The men's freshman 200 medley relay team of
Hayden Christiansen,
Brian Knothe,
Jackson Ahrens, and
Ben Lorenz recorded a new school record, posting a time of 1:33.87.
In the men's 800 free relay, the quartet of Jensen, Schoof,
Andrew Innerebner, and
Conrad Farrell placed third, touching the wall at 6:48.07.
The Panthers posted great results in the diving events, led by a second-place finish from
McKenzie Sanchez on the women's one-meter board.
Julie Rebek tallied an eighth-place finish in the same event. On the men's three-meter board,
Jared Kleczka impressed with a third-place finish while
Adam St. John and
Max Deters placed 11th and 12th, respectively.
Several Panthers competed in the B finals across each event, including
Cassandra Hutchins (1:53.70) and
Sydney Dahl (1:53.84) in the 200 free. Knothe (57.32) and Walters (58.12) competed in the B finals in the men's 100 breastsroke, while
Zach McClellan (50.15) placed third in the B finals in the 100 butterfly.
Milwaukee had three finish first in the C finals, with
Bella Passamani (56.67) and Christiansen (50.78) placing first in their respective 100 flies. Farrell placed first in the 100 back C finals with a time of 51.93.
The final day of the House of Champions Invitational will include the 200 backstroke, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly, and the 1650 free. Prelims are set to begin at 9 a.m. CT with finals beginning at 5 p.m. CT.
