Milwaukee Places Five on Horizon League Swim & Dive All-Academic Team

MILWAUKEE – Five members of the Milwaukee swim & dive teams were named to the 2026 Valeo Horizon League All-Academic team, announced by the league office Thursday.
 
Mara Freeman, Christiana Brooks, and Natalie DiProspero earned nods for the women, while Andrew Jones and Alvin Valkki received the award on the men's side.
 
Freeman, an accounting major, receives here third straight honor after sustaining her 4.00 GPA at Milwaukee. At the 2026 Horizon League Championships, she was part of three winning relay efforts, claiming the title in the 200 freestyle relay, 200 medley relay, and the 400 medley relay. She also turned in a runner-up finish in the 100 backstroke at the championships.
 
Receiving her first career honor is Brooks who holds a 4.00 GPA through three semesters while studying biological science. She set a program record in the 100 freestyle at the Horizon League Championships, winning the event with her 49.98 effort. In the relay events, Brooks served as the anchor leg in three title-winning outings (200 freestyle, 200 medley, 400 medley).
 
Rounding out the Milwaukee women with 4.00 GPAs is nursing major DiProspero, who turned in multiple finals performances at the Horizon League Championships. She finished fifth in the 400 IM finals, and sixth in the 200 fly and sixth in the 200 IM.
 
Jones receives his second straight all-academic honor, sustaining a 4.00 GPA while earning a graduate degree in Business Administration. At the Horizon League Championships, he set the school record in the 100 breaststroke with his 53.89 effort. Jones was also part of the 200 medley relay and 400 medley relay program-record outings this season.
 
Valkki earns an honorable mention nod, holding a 3.79 GPA while studying data analytics. During his sophomore campaign, he turned in personal-best efforts in the 100 butterfly and 100 freestyle at the Wisconsin First Chance Meet. Valkki currently holds the school record in the 200 breaststroke as well.
