GRIFFITH, Ind. – The Milwaukee tennis team dominated in doubles play, but the team fell short of a match victory against the UIC Flames falling 5-2 from the Match Point Tennis & Fitness Club.

Milwaukee (12-9, 5-3) looked to end the 14-match win streak the Flames (17-4, 7-0) were currently on, and got a jump start by clinching the doubles point quickly. The Panthers gave up just two games in the two matches.
Agata Jurczak and
Nikki Milner swept their match 6-0 from the No. 3 line, while
Nicole Clarke and
Mayya Perova wrapped up the doubles point with a 6-2 victory over Lucie Prochazkova and Lejla Colic from line No. 1.

"After a slow start yesterday, we responded in a big way today with one of our best doubles points of the season," Panther head coach
Jason Potthoff said. "We had some opportunities today, but just were unable to close it out."

The Panthers battled in singles play with two matches going to three sets, but were unable to get over the hump and get the win.
"Had we closed out a few more deuce games in singles, this match could have definitely gone 5-2 the other way," Potthoff said. "Credit to UIC, they are riding a huge wave of momentum right now and they were tough enough on the crucial points to fight us off."

Junior
Nicole Clarke went toe-to-toe with Lucie Prochazkova at line No. 3 winning the first set 7-6 (7-3), but came up short falling in the next two sets, and the last one in 7-3 tiebreaker.

MKE's
Agata Jurczak also played to three sets winning the first set, but fell 6-2, 6-3 in the final two sets.

Senior
Alexandra Belle picked up the lone win in singles for the Panthers defeating Lejla Colic 6-4, 6-2 improving her record to 13-7 on the season.

The Panthers will wrap up the regular season next weekend on the road against Green Bay on Saturday, April 20 beginning at 12 p.m.
