MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Milwaukee Panther's
Alexandra Belle and
Mayya Perova wrapped up a full day of tennis beginning with doubles followed by their individual matches on day two of the Milwaukee Tennis Classic.
All doubles play was suspended until today due to Thursday's late start. Belle and Perova drew Oklahoma State's Sofia Blanco and Catherine Gulihur and was hard fought throughout. The Panthers held the upper hand on first serves, serving successfully 72 percent to the Cowgirls 61 percent. Many of the numbers between the two were even, but the main difference were break points won. Blanco and Gulihur won four-of-seven break points as opposed to Belle and Perova's two-of-six. In the end, Oklahoma State won 8-5.
After Thursday's victory in singles,
Alexandra Belle matched up with No. 15 seed Jasmine Asghar from Oklahoma. Belle excelled in her serving game serving 77 percent in first serves and 92 percent in second serves for the match, but Asghar held the upper hand in first return points won averaging out at 56 percent. OU's Asghar won the battle in break points winning 5-of-10 while Belle went 1-of-9. The highly competitive match ended in OU's favor with Asghar defeating Belle 6-2, 6-3.
In an exhibition match, Perova faced Nicole Kalhorn. Perova got off to a slow start, but made adjustments in the second set losing 6-1, 6-4.
