MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Milwaukee tennis team look to extend its two-match win streak this weekend as the Panthers take on Cardinal Stritch and Marquette this weekend.
LAST TIME OUT: The Panthers (2-8) swept last weekend's opponents South Dakota State and Chicago State in its two-match homestand. On Saturday (Feb. 24), Milwaukee won in convincing fashion defeating SDSU 6-1 for it's first victory of the season. From the get-go, the team won the double's points thanks to wins from No. 1

Lucy Harper. From there, the Panthers used the momentum from doubles into singles play winning all but one match.
Milwaukee picked up it's second victory in as many days against Chicago State the following day, 4-3. UWM fell behind early losing the double points, but stepped up in singles to come away with the match win. Freshman Agata Jurczak came up big and clinched hte match with a three-set victory at No. 5 singles.

Labina Petrovska went a perfect 4-0.
WHEN & WHERE: Milwaukee will take on Cardinal Stritch on Friday, March 2 at River Glen Elite. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m. The following day, the Panthers will travel just down the road to the Helfaer Tennis Stadium to and face cross-town rival Marquette at 12 p.m.
ACROSS THE NET VS. CARDINAL STRITCH: This marks just the third time the Wolves and Panthers have met up. Milwaukee currently leads the season 2-0, winning 7-0 in 2015-16, and 5-1 last season.
The Wolves of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) currently sit 3-3 and have faced two common opponents, SDSU and Chicago State. Cardinal Stritch won 6-3 over SDSU and 5-3 against Chicago State.
A team that went 16-6, 7-0 CCAC, in 2016-17 is led by a familiar face, Mark Goldin. Goldin was an assistant coach for the Panthers from 2009-2011. In his first year at the helm with the Wolves in 2014-15, Goldin led both the men's and women's teams to the NAIA Tournament. Both teams had won the CCAC and the women went as far as the third round of the national tournament. In 2014-15, Goldin won FTA National Women's Coach of the Year.
ACROSS THE NET VS. MARQUETTE: So far this season, Marquette is currently 3-5, having faced common opponents, Wisconsin and SDSU. The Golden Eagles lost to the Badgers 5-2, while sweeping SDSU 7-0, respectively.
After a 15-8 2016-17 season, the Golden Eagles roster consists of four sophomores, two freshmen and one senior.
Senior Paula Tormos Sanchez amassed an 18-5 singles record in the '16-17' season and primarily playing at No. 2 and No. 3. In doubles, she recorded a 14-5 record as part of the No. 1 doubles team.
This season, the Golden Eagles are charged by freshman Natalija Popovic. The Serbian native has won the Junior National Championship on two separate occasions and her best international ranking is #36.
