Tennis Caps Regular Season In Ohio

Panthers looking to head into tournament on a strong note

MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee women's tennis team wraps up the 2016 regular season with a return trip to Ohio this weekend for a pair of matches.

The Panthers will first square off against league newcomer Northern Kentucky Saturday morning at 10 a.m. Central Time before heading to Dayton, Ohio for a Sunday morning contest against Wright State, also at 10 a.m.

Solid Season
Milwaukee has had an impressive go of it this season, sitting at 10-9 in the spring season. While there is still work to be done, that is a significant improvement from last year's 6-13 start through the first 19 matches.

Climbing The Charts
The Milwaukee record book as been under assault the past few seasons, with all 15 school records being set in the past five seasons.

That has not changed this season, as quite a few top-10 performances have already been set, highlighted by freshman Laurie Clark's 23 wins so far this season. The school record is 25, achieved by three Panthers, including current junior Alysa Straub during her freshman season.

About Northern Kentucky
The Norse head into Saturday with a 7-10 overall record and a 2-5 mark in the Horizon League. They have not played since a 4-0 loss to Cincinnati last Wednesday after splitting the weekend series with Oakland and Detroit the previous weekend.

Individually, Klara Skopac leads the team with a 10-6 record in dual action, all at the No. 1 spot. Skopac also has the most conference wins by a Norse with three.

About Wright State
WSU heads into the final weekend tied with Milwaukee at 4-3 in the conference standings, with Sunday's match likely to play a big role in where these two rank heading into the conference tournament.

The Raiders are 17-7 overall and are on a four-match win streak with victories over Valparaiso, St. Francis (Penn.), Detroit and Oakland.

Karoline Haller is 20-12 overall and 5-0 in conference play (all at the No. 1 spot) to lead the way for Wright State. In doubles play, WSU is an impressive 12-4 thus far this year, with the Megan Brdicka/Elaine Cloern pairing a perfect 6-0 in league play.
