Cleveland, Ohio - Playing their second match in just over 12 hours, the league-leading University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee tennis team dropped their first Horizon League match of the season Sunday in a tightly fought, 4-3, contest with Cleveland State.

Despite the loss, UWM (12-8, 6-1 Horizon) still sits at the top of the league standings with one match remaining - another road contest at Wright State next Friday. CSU improves to 9-11 overall and 5-1 in the league.

The Panthers came out of the gates on fire despite the short rest. Diana Tokar and Alysa Straub grabbed their doubles match, 8-3, and Christina Colarossi and Kristin Kurer also made quick work of their opponents, 8-5, to seal the doubles point and grab the early lead.

Kurer then cruised in singles play and made it 2-0, winning easily in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1. Straub had to battle a little but showed great resilience after dropping the second set with an emphatic third-set victory, 6-4, 2-6, 6-0.

Although that was the final point they would claim, Milwaukee certainly made the Vikings work hard. Tokar jumped out early and grabbed the first set before falling, 1-6, 6-4, 6-4. Colarossi fought hard in the longest match of the day, pushing her opponent to the brink in both sets before bowing out, 7-6 (7-2, 7-6 (7-5).

The Panthers wrap up their season Friday with the league title on the line, heading to Wright State for a 3 p.m. contest.
