Youngstown, Ohio - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's track & field team posted 11 more personal-best marks and won three more individual league titles to take second place at the Horizon League Indoor Championships Sunday at the Watson and Tressel Training Site (WATTS).

Milwaukee came in second with 119.50 points. Loyola won the meet with 157.50 points, their first-ever Horizon League title. Host Youngstown State was third at 112 points, UIC was fourth with 51 and Wright State was fifth at 36. Detroit (26) and Valparaiso (25) rounded out the scoring.

Senior Samia Taylor was named Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Meet for the second-straight year.

"Hats off to Loyola. They definitely came to do a job and fought through," Milwaukee head coach Pete Corfeld said. "I always tell the team that if you don't win, make sure whoever does win knows who made them earn it and the Loyola coach came over afterward and told me just that.

"Our team definitely fought through to the end. They really brought their competitive spirit. I know this team and they're a resilient group and we'll regroup and rest up a bit here after indoor and get ready for outdoor."

Sherice Hewett claimed Milwaukee's first title of the day by grabbing the top spot in the 60m hurdles. The sophomore easily won the race with a blazing time of 8.78 seconds, a new PR and the second-fastest time in UWM history. Chelsea Maxey was third at 9.01, also a personal best that now stands eighth in school history. Shelby Schaal, who won the pentathlon one day earlier, came in sixth at 9.11.

Simbi Laaro continued that winning way in the 60m with an outstanding time of 7.55 seconds, a new WATTS record and just shy of her own school record.

Milwaukee also dominated the triple jump, taking three of the top-four spots. Taylor won the event for the third-straight year with a Horizon League-record leap of 41 feet, 1-½ inches (12.53m), just shy of her personal record. Erika Suchla posted a PR with distance of 39-5 ¾ (12.03m), moving her to fifth in Panther history. Hewett came in fourth at 39-3 ¼ (11.97m).

In the 400m, Lauren Grant just missed her personal best with a time of 56.23 for third place.

UWM scored two in the women's high jump. Senior Shelby Schaal took third at 5-3 ¼ (1.61m), while sophomore Ashley Brusveen was sixth with a height of 5-2 ¼ (1.58m), tying her personal best.

Milwaukee's 4x400m relay team of Maxey, Sammy Woller, Michelle Garner and Grant weren't far from a spot on the all-time UWM record list with a time of 3:56.99, good enough for fifth place overall.

Also scoring at the meet was Woller (800m), Maxey (200m), and Moriah Myles (shot put). Woller used an impressive finish down the stretch to take fifth in the 800m with a time of 2:17.85. Maxey tied for fifth in the 200m with a PR of 25.16, the fourth-fastest time in school history. Myles came in fourth overall in shot put with a toss of 42-11 (13.08m).
