WATERLOO, Iowa - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's tennis team won five more singles matches and added another doubles win on day two of the Northern Iowa Invitational Saturday.

Maddy Soule won twice in the top singles flight and will play in the title match Sunday against Maria Macedo of Iowa State.

Both of Soule's wins came in straight sets, as she beat Manka Krizman of Drake, 6-3, 6-4, and then knocked off Steph Petsis of North Dakota, 6-1, 7-6.

"I was very impressed with how Maddy handle herself today in two very difficult matches," UWM head coach Sean McInerney said. "She struggled through them at times but I was happy with her ability to find ways to win both matches. It was a big step for her mentally to not have her 'A' game and still reach the finals. It will be a big test tomorrow against a very good Iowa State player. I am very proud of how she is competing."

Chelsea Bailey added two wins in the second singles flight. They were both straight-set matches, including an impressive 6-3, 7-6 victory over Emily Renault of Minnesota.

"Chelsea took a nice step forward today with a great win against Minnesota," McInerney said. "She has been working hard on the mental aspect of her game and it really showed today."

Kristin Kurer added the other singles win of the day, beating Shadi Soleymani of South Dakota by default after going ahead 5-0 in the first set.

The doubles victory for the Panthers belonged to Soule and Christina Colarossi, who knocked off Gabby Demos and Manca Krizman of Drake, 8-6.

"Overall we played well today," McInerney said. "The most important thing is that we are starting to play with the style and intensity that will get us to the level we need to be at. The team really enjoys competing and being together, which makes coaching them an extremely enjoyable experience."
