PEORIA, Ill. - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's tennis team snapped a six-match losing streak with an impressive 6-1 win over Bradley Friday night.

The Panthers (3-6) won the doubles point and then claimed five of six singles matches to capture the victory.

All of UWM's singles wins came in straight-sets, while the only loss came in three sets. Plus, Milwaukee's only doubles loss came in a tiebreaker.

"Bradley is a very solid team so this was clearly our best win of the season thus far," UWM head coach Sean McInerney said. "We have had a great couple of weeks of practice and it is really starting to show during our matches. We are starting to play at the intensity level that is going to be necessary to compete in the league."

Sammi Schoen and Brittany Skemp teamed up for a doubles win and then each player won a singles contest. Kelly Drvaric, Kari Kastenholz and Beth Ganser also won singles matches, while the doubles tandem of Ashley Schoneman and Megan Gow captured an 8-0 win to secure the doubles point.

"I am especially proud of Beth Ganser and fellow freshman Brittany Skemp, who have both worked extremely hard at practice and who bounced back from tough loses last time out," McInerney said. "That really shows what special players they are going to be in the UWM program."

UWM returns to action Saturday, facing off with Marquette.
