INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee dropped a 4-0 decision to Cleveland State in the fifth-place match of the Horizon League Women's Tennis Championship Saturday afternoon at North Central High School.

The fourth-seeded Vikings won the doubles point and then won three singles contests in straight sets to wrap up the victory.

The Panthers (10-13) could never truly get on track in the contest, though Kari Kastenholz did push her match at #2 singles into a third set.

Earlier in the day, UWM fell to third-seeded Detroit, 4-0, in spite of being highly competitive in four of the six singles matches.

"I thought going into the day that the theme was we would have to play really well and do something special to win," UWM head coach Matt McCaskill said. "We had some really strong performances but at this point you really need all six of your players to perform at that level to do something special."

Against Detroit, the Panthers had a realistic chance of pulling out wins in slots 3-6 on the singles side. But, Milwaukee found the going much tougher against the Vikings.

"The match against Detroit was pretty intense. We definitely had our chances in 3-6 singles," McCaskill said. "Against Cleveland State I thought we had something to prove because they have always beaten up on us. Jenna (Felsher) and Megan (Gow) played well, and Kari was battling at number-two singles.".
