Panthers Capture Dominating Win Over Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's tennis team won all six singles matches and and the doubles point to claim a 7-0 win over Kalamazoo College Friday night.

The Panthers (2-1) were not threatened in any of the singles matches, while UWM dominated the two doubles matches it won.

In singles action, Kelly Drvaric and Kari Kastenholz won in the top two spots by identical 6-1, 6-2 scores. Sammi Schoen captured a 6-2, 6-0 win in the third slot while Ashley Schoneman claimed a 6-1, 6-2 victory at #4 singles.

In the fifth slot, freshman Megan Gow collected a 6-2, 6-1 win, while Jenna Felsher rounded out the singles sweep with a 6-1, 6-0 victory.

In doubles action, Schoen and Schoneman won, 8-2, at #1 doubles while Drvaric and Felsher captured an 8-2 win at #2 doubles. In the third slot, Kastenholz and Karlee Miller dropped an 8-6 decision.

"We came out and dominated play against a good division-three program," UWM head coach Matt McCaskill said. "We should win matches like this and we won convincingly. We really played with confidence throughout. Now we need to carry that confidence into our match with Western Michigan tomorrow."
