MACOMB, Ill. - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's tennis team dropped a hard-fought 4-3 decision to Southeast Missouri State Sunday afternoon at Western Illinois University.

UWM (10-8) dropped the doubles point and could only pull out three of the six singles contests in coming up just short. One of those singles wins came from freshman Jenna Felsher, whose 20th singles victory set a new school record for wins in a season.

The Panthers also got wins from Kari Kastenholz in the number-two slot and Ashley Schnoneman at #6 singles.

In addition to setting a new school record, Felsher upper her overall singles record to 20-6 this season. Meanwhile, Kastenholz has now won five-straight singles matches.

"Both Jenna and Kari have been playing very well," UWM head coach Matt McCaskill said. "Jenna has been solid throughout the season and Kari has really responded well to being moved up to number-two singles. It is disappointing to not come away with two wins this weekend but we still did a number of positive things."

In doubles play, the tandem of Martina Schnapp and Felsher did claim an 8-3 win in the number-three slot, but it was the only doubles victory for UWM.

Because of the inclement weather, it was the only match of the day for the Panthers, who saw their contest with the host Leathernecks cancelled.

"Even though the weather wasn't great and we wound up having to cancel one match, it was still good to get to play outside," McCaskill said. "It should get us ready for a busy stretch of conference matches and the league tournament is just a few weeks away."

The Panthers return to action next weekend with a single match as Milwaukee hosts Horizon League rival Valparaiso Saturday at the Paley Tennis Center.
