INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's tennis team clinched its best league tournament finish since 1998 with a 4-1 win over Youngstown State in the fifth-place match Sunday.

The Panthers (13-10) also added to their school-record total for victories while freshman Ali O'Neal claimed her school-record 19th singles win of the season.

UWM was able to take advantage of a short-handed YSU squad that had to default a pair of singles matches and one doubles match. But, a straight-set win by O'Neal at #3 singles combined with an 8-5 win at #2 doubles by Kelly Drvaric and Traci Litscher was more than enough for the Panthers to claim the victory.

"Certainly the injuries caught up to Youngstown State after their win over Green Bay yesterday, but I was happy to see us do what we needed to do to claim the win," UWM head coach Matt McCaskill said. "Overall this was a very good year and two wins in this tournament was a good way to finish it off. I am already looking forward to next year."

UWM should field a young and very deep squad in 2007-08, with four freshman regulars returning and a strong recruiting class adding to the mix.

UIC won its 11th-straight Horizon League title later Sunday with a 4-3 win over Butler.
