Results

INDIANAPOLIS - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's track and field team finished fifth at the 2003 Horizon League Outdoor Track and Field Championships Friday, ending the men's six-year winning streak at the outdoor championships.

Nick Davis was the lone winner on Friday for the men's team, capturing first place in the high jump after clearing 2.03m. Davis did add a second-place finish in the triple jump, measuring at 14.27m.

The Panthers were also a surprising second place in both relays. In the 4x100m, the Panthers entered with the fourth-fastest seed time. However, when both Detroit and Youngstown State dropped their batons, the team of Eric Gresham, Sean Cludy, Billy McCarthy and Adam Hobler seized the opportunity and finshed second in 43.03. The 4x400m team, that entered the meet the heavy favorite, was hurt by the loss of Hobler and Gresham to injury, and finished a close second to Loyola. The team of Elliot Enright, Gabe Wagoner, Nick Bruskewitz and Nick Viall finished in 3:17.63.

Hobler also finished second in the 400m in 48.71, while Gresham was fourth in the quarter-mile in 49.21. Viall also finished sixth in the 400m in 50.62. Bruskewitz and Enright would also finish fifth and sixth in the 800m, with Bruskewitz finishing in 1:56.35 and Enright in 1:57.54. Gresham also chipped in with a third-place finish in the 200m in a personal-best 21.97.

In field events Friday, Cludy was sixth in the high jump, clearing 1.83m, and third in the triple jump, measuring at 14.18m.

Davis and Jerry Snyder, who won the pole vault on Thursday, will now go on to compete in the NCAA Mideast Regional Championships on May 30 and 31 at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.
