LAWRENCE, Kan. - Junior Adam Hobler set a new school record in the men's 400m dash Friday in the preliminary heats of the event at the Kansas Relays in Lawrence, Kan. Hobler, who already broke the UWM Indoor 400m mark earlier this season, set the new standard at 48.56 to finish 11th.

Hobler's time breaks the old mark, set on May 5, 1979, by George Bezold, of 48.74. It's also slightly faster than his indoor record of 48.58, which he set on March 8, 2003 in South Bend, Ind.

Hobler wasn't the only Panther to have a successful weekend in Kansas, however. Eric Gresham also competed in the 400m open, placing 20th in 49.82. The men's 4x400m relay team of Hobler, Gabe Wagoner, Nick Bruskewitz and Elliot Enright finished 17th, but finished in 3:17.17, the fastest mark UWM has posted since moving to Division I in 1990. That time ranks third all-time in school history, behind a pair of marks set in 1983.

In addition, the men's 4x800m relay team of Wagoner, Nick Viall, Bruskewitz and Enright finished in 7:49.48, good for eighth place overall.

Next up for the Panthers is the Drake Relays next weekend in Des Moines, Iowa.
