MILWAUKEE - Ryan Mosher, Eric Gresham and Sean Cludy each picked up a win as the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's track and field team opened the 2003 outdoor track season with several strong performances at Western Michigan Saturday.

Mosher won the 100m dash in 11.24, while Gresham led four Panthers in the 400m dash, winning in 49.34. Billy McCarthy was second in the 400m in 50.87, with Gabe Wagoner third in 51.07 and Nick Pryor in fourth in 53.07. McCarthy also finished third in the 200m in 22.90.

Cludy took his victory in the triple jump, measuring at 13.38m (43-10.75). Scott Bambrough was second in the triple, jumping 12.79m (41-11.5). In the long jump, Nick Davis took fifth with a jump of 6.33m (20-9.25), followed by Steven Capela in seventh, measuring at 5.92m (19-5.25) and Cludy in eighth with a jump of 5.85m (19-2.5). Davis also took second in the javelin with a toss of 47.81m (156-10), with Steve Hermann finishing seventh, measuring 31.41m (103-1).

Nick Pryor and Dan O'Leary finished second and third in the 400m hurdles, with Pryor second in 1:01.84 and O'Leary third in 1:04.11. O'Leary would also finish eighth in the 110m hurdles in 18.30. Andy Kivioja finished fifth in the 800m run in 2:00.96 and eighth in the 1500m in 4:11.44. Josh Nygren added a sixth-place mark in the 5000m in 15:28.78.

The Panthers return to the track this weekend with a trip to Charleston, Ill., for the Eastern Illinois Invitational.
