April 25, 2026

MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee men's track & field team competed in Louisville's Jim Freeman/Clark Wood Open as well as UW-Whitewater's Drake Alternative Saturday.

"We had a great day at the track with our Louisville and Whitewater groups," said head coach Andrew Basler. "A lot of season and personal bests across all the events, which is exactly what you are looking for two weeks out from conference championship weekend."

"Josh had another solid day in the ring, throwing a season best in the discus," Basler said. "If the wind was a little different for that event, he was primed to throw a lot further."

In the final day of action at the meet in Louisville, Ky., Josh Cygan led the Panthers with a victory in the discus. He threw a season-best 52.86 meters to claim the top spot on the podium for the second time this season.

"Our young 400m crew led the way," added Basler. "Bauschelt continued to shave more time off his personal best. Buford executed the first 200-meter of his race which set up his big PR of 47.65."

Two career-best efforts were recorded in the 400-meter run, with Ty Bauschelt finishing sixth and Anthony Buford crossing the line eighth. Bauschelt's time of 47.25 ranks him fifth in program history, while Buford's 47.65 slots him seventh.

Finishing eighth in the triple jump was Kyril Griffin who recorded a 14.00-meter leap.

Drake Alternative

"Over at UW-Whitewater, our men's 800m crew had a great day," Basler said. "Dylan ran a great race, almost dipping into the 1:53's for a nice personal best. Wade was just behind him with his own personal best of 1:54.32.

Milwaukee placed three runners in the top-10 of the 800-meter dash. Dylan Longworth ended runner-up after running a career-best 1:54.04 outing. Also registering a new career-best was Wade Duffek, who crossed the line fourth with a time of 1:54.32. The distance success continued for Milwaukee in the 1500-meter run, where two more personal-best outings were secured. Alex Anewenter was the top Panther finisher, ending eighth (4:03.86), and Gamez added an 11th-place outing (4:06.25).

"In the field events, freshman Tyler Dahlie had a great day in triple jump, hitting a lifetime best and getting back over 14 meters," Basler said.

Tyler Dahlie earned the triple jump title with his 14.07-meter effort. Olu Olu-Akintomide added a solid performance for the Black & Gold, jumping 13.12 meters to finish sixth.

Dahlie also competed in the high jump where he finished seventh, clearing a season-best 1.93 meters.

Zach Moss nabbed second place in the 5000-meter run, clocking a time of 15:22.95. Also cracking the top-five was Aidan Sosnowski, who ran a 16:06.64.

"In the 400m, freshman Oiler showed his athleticism by breaking into the 49's in his first collegiate 400m," Basler added. "Weaver had a great day in the short sprints, setting college bests in the 100m and 200m."
