MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee men's track & field team competed in the final day of Indiana State's Gibson Invitational, as well as Wisconsin Lutheran's Warrior Invitational Saturday.
GIBSON INVITATIONAL
In the 400-meter run,
Ty Bauschelt got the Panthers going with a runner-up finish, crossing the line in 47.47.
Zac Schmidt and
Anthony Buford both cracked the top-15 in the event, ending ninth (48.16) and 13th (48.93), respectively.
Buford also competed in the 200-meter dash, where he delivered a 13th-place finish with a career-best time of 22.09. Also in the event was
Matt Scardina, who turned in a 22.55 outing.
In the hurdle events,
Brendan Vlasak produced two personal-best efforts. In the 110-meter hurdles, the freshman finished seventh with a time of 14.71. He did not stop there, delivering a 13th-place performance in the 400-meter hurdles with an impressive time of 56.74.
Also battling in the 400-meter hurdles was
Ethan Criter, who crossed the line 18th with his 57.41 effort.
Kyril Griffin shined in the triple jump, turning in a personal-best 14.60-meter effort, taking home third place.
Tyler Dahlie was not far behind after jumping 13.88-meters.\
Zach Moss was the top Black & Gold finisher in the 1500-meter. The Sophomore completed the race in 4:08.69.
The team of Buford, Bauschelt, Schmidt, and Scardina battled in the 4x400-meter relay. They clocked a time of 3:19.19, finishing runner-up.
In the discus throw,
Josh Cygan registered the sixth-best effort at the meet, throwing 50.37 meters.
Aiden Janke competed in the event as well, hurling 44.00 meters.
WARRIOR INVITATIONAL
At the meet in Wauwatosa, Wis., three Panthers qualified for the finals in the 100-meter dash.
Frank Wiedmeyer had the second-best prelim time at the meet, clocking a career-best time of 11.00. Also finishing in 11.00 was
Trent Oiler, while
Mason Weaver crossed the line sixth (11.10).
Milwaukee secured the top two spots on the podium in the 800-meter run.
Dylan Longworth won the event with his career-best time of 1:56.11. Finishing runner-up was
Wade Duffek, who clocked a time of 1:56.99.
Weidmeyer took home the long jump title after his personal-best 6.75-meter leap.
Olu Olu-Akintomide added to the Panther jumps success, winning the triple jump with his 13.56-meter effort.
Alex Anewenter and
Talon Gamez both cracked the top-three in the 1500-meter run, with Anewenter grabbing second (4:02.15), and Gamez securing third (4:08.35) (PR).
