Gibson Invite Day 2 Meeteer Recap

Panthers Close Out Combined Events with Standout Performances at Indiana State

April 17, 2026

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Milwaukee track & field teams competed in the second day of Indiana State's Gibson Invitational Friday.

Day two at the Gibson Track & Field Complex marked the end of the combined events, where the Panthers saw multiple impressive finishes.

Liam Richards, competing unattached, won the decathlon by 256 points, earning a career-best total of 7260 points. In the discus throw, Richards recorded a 41.30-meter effort to finish first in the event. Additionally, he cracked the top-three in both the pole vault (4.45 meters) and 110-meter hurdles. Richards rounded out his successful two-day campaign with a fifth-place outing in the javelin (45.81 meters) and a seventh-place performance in the 1500-meter run (5:00.28).

"In the women's multis, Anna had another 6-meter jump in long jump, followed by a personal best javelin throw," said head coach Andrew Basler. "We opted to bypass the 800-meter so she would be fresher for the invite long jump tomorrow."

In the pentathlon, Anna Szepieniec was the top finisher for the Black & Gold, earning 4469 points to finish sixth. She started the day off by winning the long jump with her 6.01-meter leap. In the javelin, she ended in the top-five after throwing a career-best 30.23 meters.

"Kara successfully completed her first multi," added Basler. "We left some points in long jump, but she finished with lifetime bests in the javelin and 800m. She was able to eclipse the 4,000pt mark in her first heptathlon."

Kara Meeteer, competing in her first pentathlon as a Panther, secured 4008 points. She had an impressive second day of action, finishing in the top-10 of each of her events. Meeteer registered eighth-place efforts in the long jump (5.04 meters) and javelin (29.30 meters), and ended the day with a seventh-place 800-meter run (2:32.39).

Kallie Volk also wrapped up her pentathlon events, finishing fourth in both the long jump (5.37 meters) and javelin (31.84 meters).

Competing in the 3000-meter run was Hallie Hoger, who clocked a time of 19:39.62.

"Anna and Kallie doubled back with Jade in the open javelin later in the meet today," Basler said. "Anna threw another lifetime best, while Kallie got back over 35 meters in javelin. Jade worked a longer approach today, so the results were a little off. But with more reps, she will be able to use that new speed for bigger throws."

In the javelin throw, Volk was the top Panther finisher, ending 11th with her 35.78-meter effort. Szepieniec wasn't far behind, recording a career-best throw of 30.75 meters. Jade Sok also competed in the event, tossing 25.95 meters.

"In the women's hammer, Nolie pushed her lifetime best a little further," Basler added. "Mercedes was just off her lifetime best. It was a solid day in the ring for them."

Nolie Anderson nabbed a new personal-best in the hammer throw, hurling 45.29 meters. Throwing 43.96 meters in the event was Mercedes Herrera.
