MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee track & field teams competed at the Duke Invitational in Durham, N. C., as well as the Marquette invitational held in Milwaukee, Wis., Friday.
"While we only competed in five events today, those who competed took advantage of their opportunity," said head coach
Andrew Basler. "Starting off in women's high jump, Olivia was very dialed in with her approach. She made great decision with her approach based on the wind conditions, and it paid off with a season best."
For the women at Duke,
Olivia VanZeeland was a clear standout. She won the high jump for the second time this season, clearing a season-best 1.74 meters.
"In the women's 100-meter hurdles, Natalie finished prelims as the top collegiate athlete in a field of 55," added Basler. "She executed her start and got into a great rhythm through the race. Also in the hurdles, senior Brooke ran a solid race in a heat where five of the eight competitors had season bests."
Natalie Block also shined at the meet held in Morris Williams Stadium, placing third in the 100-meter hurdles prelims with a season-best time of 13.23. Her mark currently ranks first in the Horizon League for the event. Brooks Crosby also competed in the event, clocking a time of 14.85.
"In the Women's 100-meter Dash, Burns led the way with a personal best of 12.07. Levenhagen and Roloff were not far behind," said Basler.
In the 100-meter dash,
Katie Burns secured a spot in the Panther Top-10 with her career-best 12.07 prelim time. The performance slots her eighth in program history. Also competing in the 100-meter was
Nevia Levenhagen and
Isabel Roloff who turned in times of 12.26 and 12.27, respectively.
"We had six ladies compete today across two events, and all six had lifetime bests," Basler added. "In the javelin, Kara and Jade threw close to 28m and made finals with their lifetime bests. In the hammer, Mercedes, Nolie, Claudia, and Adeline had a great day in the ring. All four of those ladies threw lifetime bests."
At the meet hosted by Marquette, the Black & Gold had a pair of athletes compete in the javelin throw.
Jade Sok secured seventh place with her 27.98-meter effort, while
Kara Meeteer ended eighth with a 27.35-meter throw.
Mercedes Herrera and
Claudia Conner both claimed new personal bests in the hammer throw. Herrera finished fourth with her 44.22-meter outing, and Conner cracked the top-10, throwing 36.73 meters.
Nolie Anderson and
Adeline Wind also competed in the event, throwing 41.85 meters and 35.12 meters, respectively.
On the men's side,
Sam Schreiber and
Harper Fahey were the sole Panthers competing Friday at Duke.
"Our day concluded with Harper in the 1500-meter and Sam in his 2026 3000-meter Steeplechase debut," Basler said. "Harper had a great finish to come away with a lifetime best. In the 3000-meter Steeple, Sam blazed to a 22 second lifetime best. His barriers and water pit were very clean, which allowed him to come away with such a great lifetime best."
Schreiber finished sixth in the steeplechase, running the third-fastest time in program history for the event (9:04.14). His steeplechase outing currently ranks second in the Horizon League for the event.
In the 1500-meter run, Fahey competed in a loaded field, clocking a season-best time of 3:53.58.
