Block, Cygan Earn Horizon League Athlete of the Week Honors

March 31, 2026

MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee track & field team received two Horizon League Athlete of the Week nods, announced by the league office Tuesday.

Natalie Block was honored as Women's Runner of the Week, and Josh Cygan earned the Men's Field Athlete of the Week award.

In her first outdoor appearance this season, Block wasted no time dominating the competition. The 2025 Second Team All-American broke her own school record in the 400-meter hurdles at NC State's Raleigh Relays, posting a time of 56.27 and finishing third. She also saw success in the 100-meter hurdles where she finished fifth, clocking a time of 13.45. Block currently ranks first in the Horizon League for both events. With the honor, Block earns her 16th weekly Horizon League accolade of an already accomplished Milwaukee career.

After a solid weekend at Illinois State's Joyce Morton-Kief Invitational, Cygan receives his third career weekly award from the league office. In discus, he recorded a runner-up finish with his 52.81-meter throw. Cygan also shined in the hammer throw, registering the 10th-best performance in program history with his 52.49-meter outing. He currently holds the top spot in the Horizon League for both the discus and hammer throw.
