MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee men's track & field team competed in a pair of meets Friday, with select throwers competing at Illinois State's Joyce Morton-Kief Invitational in Normal, Ill., while other athletes competed at NC State's Raleigh Relays held in Raleigh, N.C.

"We had a great start to our outdoor campaign the past two days," said head coach
Andrew Basler. "At Illinois State, Cygan finished strong with a lifetime best throw."
In the hammer throw,
Josh Cygan started his sophomore outdoor campaign on the right foot, finishing fourth with his 52.49-meter toss. Cygan's mark currently ranks 10th in the Panther record books for the event.
RALEIGH RELAYS
."At Raleigh Relays on Thursday, Sam and Harper had huge lifetime bests in the 1500m," said Basler. "A strong opener like that is a great indicator on their level of fitness."
Sam Schreiber and
Harper Fahey competed in the 1500-meter run Thursday, both turning in new personal bests. Schreiber finished the event in 3:52.90 which is the ninth-fastest time in program history. Fahey shaved over 13 seconds off his previous career-best effort, crossing the line in 3:54.22.
"The 400-meter runners had an outstanding opener for the season," added Basler. "All three men opened with lifetime bests.
A pair of Panthers carved their names in the panther record books in the 400-meter dash, with
Ty Bauschelt and
Zac Schmidt recording monster performances. Bauschelt clocked a time of 47.89, the sixth-fastest time in program history, in his Milwaukee outdoor debut. Schmidt was right behind him, turning in a personal-best 47.92 effort which ranks him seventh in Panther history for the event.
Bauschelt and
Tyler Dahlie competed in the high jump, both clearing 1.91 meters. In the triple jump,
Kyril Griffin jumped 14.15 meters.
