LePine, Relays Power Panthers on Day Two of Horizon League Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Milwaukee swim & dive teams continued competing at the Horizon League Championships inside the IU Natatorium.
 
At the halfway point of the four-day affair, the Panther women rank second with 231 points, while the men sit fourth, recording 155.5 points.
 
Day two of the championships was highlighted by two winning efforts for the Black & Gold women. Gabrielle LePine picked up her second title of the meet with her effort in the 50 freestyle. She set a new Milwaukee standard in the event, clocking a program-record time of 22.74. The previous record of 22.86 was set by Mandie Siehs in 2017.
 
The other Panther victory came in women's 200 freestyle relay, where the team of LePine, Brielle Laube, Mara Freeman, and Christiana Brooks completed the event in 1:31.77.
 
Also finding success in the 50 Freestyle was Brooks, who secured the third spot on the podium in the event. Brooks clocked a personal-best time of 23.00.
 
Erika Thomas finished fourth in the 200 IM final, turning in a career-best 2:03.37 effort. Natalie DiProspero was close behind, nabbing sixth place (2:05.20).
 
Four new Panther standards were set on the men's side, with Sam Lorenz leading the charge. Lorenz finished third in the 50 freestyle, clocking a program-record time of 19.61.
 
Gunnar Seversen also set a new program best in day two of the championships. In the 500 Freestyle, Seversen touched the wall third, turning in a career-best 4:22.36 outing.
 
The squad of Lorenz, Caleb Carlisle, Charlie House, and Seversen set a new Panther program standard in the 200 freestyle relay, completing the race in 1:19.00. The previous record of 1:19.62 was set in last year's championships by House, Jackson Ahrens, Carlisle, and Ben Lorenz.

A freshman program-best was recorded by Emre Arican in the 200 IM, where he clocked a time of 1:50.62.
 
In the men's 1-meter dive, Will Francis was the top Panther finisher, ending ninth with a score of 252.30.
