MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee indoor track & field teams will host the Panther Tune-Up in the Klotsche Center Saturday to wrap up their regular season slates. The meet, featuring athletes from Marquette, Wisconsin Lutheran, Bryant & Stratton, and Wisconsin, will begin with field events at 10:00 a.m.
LAST TIME OUT
The Panthers competed in Grand Valley State's Big Meet Friday and DePaul's Blue Demon Alumni Classic, with athletes at both meets turning in solid efforts.
At GVSU's meet in Allendale, Mich.,
Rachel Helm registered a monster finish in the 800-meter run, crossing the line third. Her 2:13.03 outing currently ranks second in the Panther record books and first in the Horizon League for the event.
In the 60-meter dash,
Isabel Roloff registered a personal-best, completing the event in 7.11 to secure seventh in the program record books.
Taylor Thimmesch turned in two career-best efforts, finishing the 400-meter dash in 56.71 and the 200-meter in 25.72.
New career-bests were also recorded by
Leah Handshoe in the 200-meter dash (25.56) and
Grace Kline in the 5000-meter run (18:38.72).
In Chicago, Ill.,
Nevia Levenhagen highlighted the Black & Gold success. She won the long jump with her 6.18-meter leap, recording the second-best effort in program history.
The high jump duo of
Alexandria Simmons and
Macy Woodward cleared lifetime-best bars, both jumping 1.60 meters.
For the men at Big Meet Friday,
Ty Bauschelt secured his first Panther record book spot with his 400-meter effort. His personal-best time of 48.49 ranks seventh.
In the 4x400 relay,
Anthony Buford,
Matt Scardina,
Zac Schmidt, and Bauschelt recorded a season-best outing of 3:18.19 which ranks second in the Horizon League.
A pair of Panthers locked-up top-10 spots in the 800-meter program records, with
Lucas Picco sitting fourth (1:50.59) and
Karsten Grundahl landing ninth (1:52.36).
At the meet hosted by DePaul,
Kyril Griffin finished tenth in the long jump with his 6.57-meter effort.
Olu Olu-Akintomide jumped 13.56 meters in the triple jump, turning in a season-best effort in the event.
UP NEXT
Milwaukee looks ahead to the Horizon League Indoor Championships held in Youngstown, Ohio, on Saturday, Feb. 28 and Sunday, Mar. 1. The championships will take place at the Watson and Tressel Training Site.

SOARING SZEPIENIEC
Anna Szepieniec shattered the Panther program record in the long jump at the 13th annual Tierney Classic. Her leap of 6.30 meters bested the previous record of 6.06 meters set by Samia Taylor in 2013. Szepieniec has earned Horizon League Women's Field Athlete of the Week twice for her high jump efforts, and she currently ranks first in the event across the Horizon League.
A SEASON THAT BURNS BRIGHT
Katie Burns has turned it up a notch during senior campaign. Burns currently ranks in the Horizon League top ten for the 400-meter dash, 200-meter dash, and the 4x400 relay.
