Milwaukee looks to Horizon League Championships

October 29, 2026

MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee cross country program kicks off its postseason slate Saturday, Oct. 31, at the Horizon League Championships from Clinton, Pa. at the Youthtowne Fields.

The meet is set to get underway with the women's 6K race at 10:00 a.m. CT, followed by the men's 8K competition at 11:00 a.m. CT. Fans can find more information on the meet with the link, here.

The Panthers enjoyed a weekend off after competing at the Bradley Pink Classic, where each team saw numerous personal bests.

On the men's side, Cullen Boyle enters as the leader for Milwaukee, emerging as the first Panther to cross the finish line in five consecutive races. The senior placed 41st last season at the Horizon League Championships, looking to improve on that mark this upcoming weekend.

After Boyle, Alex Lopez-Saucedo put together his strongest performance of the year in Illinois, turning in a time of 25:31.8. The Queen Creek, Ariz. native had yet to run an 8K below 27 minutes beforehand, emerging as a name to follow down the stretch.

Alex Anewenter, Will Whiteis, Zach Moss, Harper Fahey, Nathan Powley and Talon Gamez have each scored at least once for Milwaukee over the course of the season, as the unit looks to improve on their 10th-place finish at last year's Horizon League Championships.

For the women's team, Janiyah Taylor and Mariah Wondra have paced the Panthers throughout the entirety of the regular season.

Taylor is coming off of the best race of her career at the Bradley Pink Classic, becoming the first member of Milwaukee this season to complete a 6K in under 22 minutes. The sophomore covered the distance in 21:52.8.

Wondra has been more of the same for the Panthers, entering Saturday as one of the top performing freshmen in the program. The newcomer has earned three top-20 finishes to kick off her collegiate career, including a fifth-place mark at the Jim Allen Classic a month ago. Wondra is joined by fellow freshmen Avery Sommer, Grace Storjohann, Leah Gonwa and Abbey Schultz, who have each scored points for Milwaukee during the regular season.

After Saturday, Milwaukee will set its sights on the NCAA Great Lakes Regional, housed in East Lansing, Mich. Friday, Nov. 13. The meet is set to take place at Forest Akers Golf Course, hosted by Michigan State.
