October 02, 2026

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The Milwaukee men's cross country team tallied a 15th-place finish at the Joe Piane Invitational Friday afternoon, led by six personal bests in the 8K competition.

"I can visibly see our men's team turn the corner from where we have been the last couple of years with performance and attention to detail," head coach Andrew Basler said.

Cullen Boyle continued his quality senior campaign on the Burke Golf & Cross Country Course, placing 31st among 175 racers. The Mequon, Wis. native covered the 8K course in 24:42.7, a new personal best. Friday's race also marked the third time in his career he has completed an 8K in under 25 minutes.

Harper Fahey emerged as the standout in Indiana, placing 57th with a time of 25:06.2. Fahey sliced off around a minute from his previous personal best, finishing an 8K in under 26 minutes for the first time in his collegiate career.

"One of the most impressive runs was by Harper, who ran nearly a minute PR across the 8K distance," Basler said.

Alex Anewenter and Will Whiteis were the third and fourth members of the Panthers' unit to cross the finish line, placing 78th and 90th, respectively. Anewenter clocked in at 25:20.6 for a career best, while Whiteis followed quickly at 25:28.0.

To complete the scoring, Zach Moss finished in 110th, notching a personal best of 25:39.9.

Milwaukee will return to action Friday, Oct. 16, when they travel south to compete in the Bradley Pink Classic. The men's 8K race is set to begin at 1:30 p.m. CT.
