Track & Field With Strong Showings at the Green & White Invite and Gibson Invitational

WAUWATOSA, Wis.- The Milwaukee track & field teams opened a full weekend of action Thursday with the Green & White Invite, as well as the first day of the Gibson Invitational. Brooke Crosby won the 100m hurdles and 400m hurdles to headline the Green & White Invite.

Competing at the one-day meet hosted by Wisconsin Lutheran, Crosby finished the final round of the 100m hurdles in 14.45 to pick up her first victory. Later in the day, she came back for the 400m hurdles with another first-place performance of 1:09.20.
 
Katie Sciarini joined Crosby with a podium finish in the 100m hurdles, finishing in third place at 16.14.
 
In the 100m dash, Lilly Wepking managed a runner-up finish with a final round time of 12.52, the best of her young career so far.
 
The Panther men claimed spots two through five in the 1500m run, led by Harper Fahey's career-best time of 4:08.32. Following Fahey in the race were, Trey Meier (4:09.31), Zach Moss (4:09.53), and Aidan Sosnowski (4:09.81).
 
Leading the women in the event was Grace Kline coming in third at 5:15.54. She was joined by Rylan Oberg placing fourth (5:22.81), and Rohan Flanagan in seventh (5:31.18).
 
Leah Handshoe snapped up one more top finish for the Black & Gold, coming around in 57.90 to take the 400m dash. Boasting second place in the event was Victoria Evtimov who crossed the finish line in 59.24.
 
Isabel Roloff had a strong race in the 200m dash, earning the second spot after clocking in at 25.70.
 
Rounding out the men at the event were, Jackson Statz with a third-place showing in the 400m dash (51.04), and Wade Duffek taking fifth in the 800m run (2:00.76).
 
GIBSON INVITATIONAL
 
Thursday also marked the first day of competition at Indiana State's Gibson Invitational in Terre Haute, Ind.
 
After four events in the heptathlon, Anna Szepieniec sits in 11th after amassing 2,759 points. Her best performance came in the 100m hurdles, where she took second place with a run of 14.22.
 
Kallie Volk had earned 2,196 points through three events, including tying her career best in the high jump at 1.70m, before not starting in the 200m dash.
 
Jane Kautz is also taking part in the heptathlon, collecting 1,446 points on the first day of the event.
 
Representing the men in the first half of the decathlon is Nick O'Halloran, he will enter day two with 2,310 points.
 
The decathlon will resume at 8:30 a.m. (CT) on Friday with the 110m hurdles, while the heptathlon will start back up with the long jump at 9:00 a.m. (CT). Field events will begin at 11:00 a.m. (CT), while action on the track is scheduled for 4:40 p.m. (CT).
 
Also on Friday, the Panthers will have select distance runners competing in the 10000m run at La Crosse's Phil Esten Challenge at 7:25 p.m. (CT).
