DURHAM, NC. - The Milwaukee women's track and field team competed at the second day of the Duke and Marquette Invitationals Friday.
Cailin Kinas highlighted the day by breaking the program record in the 3000m steeplechase at the Duke Invitational.

Kinas took down her own record set last year at 10:56.40, her time of 10:49.51 earning her tenth place on the day.

The historic performances continued in the heptathlon with
Anna Szepieniec, racking up 5,052 points to move her up to second on the schools all time leaderboard in the event, and take fifth in the "A" group of the meet.

Kallie Volk earned the victory in the "B" group of the heptathlon, collecting 4,941 points to rank her fourth in program history in the event.

Volk started her day with third-place performances in the long jump (5.38m), and javelin (32.29m). Going into the final event, Volk still needed a big finish in the 800m to lock up the win, she finished the 800m run in 2:24.87 to take finish on top.

"Our multis had some highlights battling through adverse conditions on day two," added Basler. "They both were in position heading into the 800m run to get close to our school record which they did."

In the mile run,
Anelise Egge notched a time of 4:30.53 to place 33rd in the talented 116 runner field.

Basler continued saying. "Anelise ran a solid opener, she had to battle through the crowd early but had a strong finish to the race."

Olivia VanZeeland cleared 1.66m in the high jump to manage a sixth-place finish.

Katie Burns and
Victoria Evtimov competed in the 100m dash, Burns crossing the finish line in 12.37, and Evtimov coming in at 12.44.

Saturday will mark the final day of action in Durham, field events will begin at 10:00 a.m. (CT), followed by competition on the track getting underway at 11:00 a.m. (CT).

MARQUETTE INVITATIONAL

Milwaukee won four events in a strong final day of competition at the Marquette Invitational.
Â
Starting action on the track was the 4x100 relay team of
Isabel Roloff,
Angelica Refinski,
Lilly Wepking and
Kalea Weyenberg finishing in 47.28 to claim the top spot.
Â
Roloff and Refinski were the top two finishers in the 100m dash, Roloff coming in first at 12.25, and Refinski on her heels at 12.29.

In the 200m, it was Weyenberg and Refinski leading the way, with Weyenberg running to winning time of 25.60, and Refinski finishing in 25.93 to wrap up second place.

"A lot of positive things happened today at the Marquette Invite," Basler said of the meet.

Keeping the theme,
Rachel Helm and
Ally Schmitz paced the field in the 800m run, Helm recording a time of 2:16.87, and
Ally Schmitz following at 2:17.87.

Brooke Crosby finished in second place in the 100m hurdles flying across the finish in 14.78.

"Rachel and Ally both ran very solid races in the 800m run," Basler concluded with. "I was excited to see Brooke in the 14's in the 100m hurdles."

Hailey Soriaga matched her career best in the pole vault clearing 3.66m to earn second place in the event.
