Five Panthers Secure Victories in Season-Opening Blue Demon Holiday Invitational

December 12, 2025

CHICAGO, Ill. – The Milwaukee men's track & field team opened its indoor season at DePaul's Blue Demon Holiday Invitational on Friday.

"I thought it was a good season opener for us," head coach Andrew Basler stated. "We didn't bring a full squad, but I felt that the athletes we brought really stepped up and started us off on a strong foot."

The Black & Gold saw five different athletes secure the top spot on the podium at the meet.

Anthony Buford started the Panthers off with a convincing victory in the long jump, clearing 7.01m.

Milwaukee swept the top three spots in the high jump, with Ty Bauschelt and Caden Thomas both jumping 1.98m, and Tyler Dahlie taking third with his 1.93m effort.

Freshman Brendan Vlasak saw success in the 60m hurdles, securing the crown in the event and clocking a time of 8.19.

"We had some seniors in the high jump that showed another strong event for us," Basler added. "I thought we had some freshman that competed well. Bauschelt in the high jump and the 400 started his panther career off on a good note."

Lucas Picco also turned in a first-place effort, finishing the 600-meter dash in 1:19.81.

Racing in the 300-meter dash was Zac Schmidt, who registered a time of 34.89 and took home third in the event.

"Overall, very happy with how things went. We have a good sense of where we are at and a good sense of what we have to work on going forward," concluded Basler.
