NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Milwaukee cross country team ran at Notre Dame's Joe Piane Invitational Friday morning on the Burke Golf & Cross Country Course.
As a team, the Panthers placed 16th out of 21 competing teams, earning 377 points. Milwaukee faced off against numerous conference foes, including Green Bay, IU Indy, and Purdue Fort Wayne.
Cullen Boyle was the standout for the Black and Gold, crossing the finish line 17th out of the 167 total runners and recording a personal best 8K time of 24:49.8.
Sam Schreiber contributed an impressive performance as well, claiming a 47th-place finish in the event. Schreiber recorded a time of 25:23.2.
"The men had some highlights on the day. Cullen and Sam continue to step up to the challenge and race strongly," stated head coach
Andrew Basler.
The Panthers also saw
Harper Fahey record a personal-best, finishing 90th (26:04.8) on the day. Fahey bested his previous top 8K performance by 14 seconds.
"Harper keeps building confidence with every race and is becoming a staple in our top 5," concluded Basler.
Milwaukee will compete at Wisconsin Lutheran's Warrior Invitational on Saturday morning. The race will be held in Greenfield Park in West Allis, Wis. The men will race first at 10 a.m., followed by the women at 11 a.m.
