Four Panthers Earn League Athlete of the Week Honors

January 14, 2025

MILWAUKEE – For the second time this season Milwaukee has swept the Horizon League's Track & Field Athletes of the Week awards, following its successful outing at the Badgers Midwest Invitational Saturday.

Jaelyn Reeves-Lile, Dominique Thomas, Caden Thomas, and Olivia VanZeeland were announced as the winners in a release by the league Tuesday.

For Reeves-Lile, he captures the Men's Track Athlete of the Week award for the second time in 2024-25, earning the honors back on Dec. 16. At this week's meet, he took first in the 60m dash crossing the finish line in 6.83 seconds. He followed that up in the 300m dash, taking down his second school record of the season, finishing with a time of 34.10, good enough for second place in the event.

Competing in her first meet of the season Saturday, Dominique Thomas grabbed the Track Athlete of the Week award on the women's side. She started her day in the prelims of the 60m dash, finishing in just 7.53 to comfortably send her to the finals. In the finals, she managed to record a second-place finish by slicing her time down to 7.46.

Bringing in the hardware for the men's field athletes was Caden Thomas for his effort in the high jump. Clearing a height of 2.00m in the event was enough to take home the top spot at the meet.

VanZeeland is the fourth winner for the Panthers this week, earning the distinction for the top women's field performance. VanZeeland registered a fourth-place result in the high jump by clearing a new personal-best of 1.70m, the fourth-best height in program history.
