Milwaukee Track & Field Sweeps Horizon League Athlete of the Week Awards

MILWAUKEE – After competing in their season-opening meet Friday at the Blue Demon Holiday Invite hosted by DePaul, four athletes from the Milwaukee Track & Field programs were recognized by the Horizon League as winners of Track & Field Athletes of the Week on Tuesday afternoon.
 
Jaelyn Reeves-Lile and Anna Szepieniec earned Track Athletes of the Week recognition with Ethan Mitchell and Morgan Pilate taking home Field Athlete of the Week honors as the Panthers swept the weekly awards.
 
Reeves-Lile earned the weekly honor as the Men's Track Athlete of the Week, winning the 200m dash on Friday with a time of 21.61, writing his way into the record book with the third-best time in school history. He then took down the school record in the 60m dash crossing the finish in just 6.76, finishing fifth in Chicago.
 
The Women's Track Athlete of the Week award went to Anna Szepieniec, who continues to build upon her freshman season success from 2023-24 with the sixth-best 60m hurdles time in program history at 8.66, finishing fifth at the Blue Demon Holiday Invite.
 
For the field athletes, newcomer Ethan Mitchell got his collegiate career off on the right foot winning his first weekly honor. He registered a second-place finish in the long jump on Friday by reaching a distance of 6.91m. In the triple jump he recorded a 13.33m jump to take seventh place.
 
Morgan Pilate rounded out the award winners for the week, earning Women's Field Athlete of the Week. Pilate had an outstanding day with a second-place finish in the long jump with a distance of 5.81m and also earned a second trip to the podium finishing second in the triple jump at 12.01m.
 
The Panthers return to action when they compete at the Badgers Midwest Invite in Chicago on Jan. 11.
