MILWAUKEE, Wis. –
Kate Watson of the Milwaukee women's track and field team was named Horizon League Field Athlete of the Week following her record-breaking performance at the Midwest Invite on Saturday.

The award marks the first of her career and second this season for Milwaukee.

At Saturday's Midwest Invite in Chicago, Watson reached 3.97 meters in the pole vault to set a new school record, surpassing Joy VanLaanen's previous top program mark of 3.95 which was set in 2006. Watson placed second in the event on Saturday and cleared 3.97 meters on her first attempt at the height. She currently owns the top mark in the Horizon League.

Watson and the Panthers will be back in action this Saturday as Milwaukee hosts the Tierney Classic beginning at 10:00 am at the Klotsche Center.
