MILWAUKEE – Senior standout Meg Swietlik of the Milwaukee women's cross country team has been named Horizon League Runner of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday afternoon.
 
The weekly honor is her second in her career and first of the 2022 season.
 
Swietlik, an Elm Grove native, was acknowledged as she led the Panthers Saturday at the John McNichols Invite in Terre Haute, Ind. The senior crossed the line in 18:27.6, good enough for 29^th overall in a field of 183 runners.
 
Swietlik's time helped the Black & Gold finish with 219 points to place sixth out of a large field of 22 teams, 14 Division I, most notably in front of Horizon League foes IUPUI and Purdue Fort Wayne.
 
MKE is back in action next weekend at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invite in South Bend, Ind. The race is set for 9:30 a.m. (CT) on Friday, Sept. 30.
